Difference Between Comfortable And Meaningful Life
Difference Between Comfortable And Meaningful Life
When you feel like your life has purpose and meaning, like there’s some sort of greater goal that you’re striving toward? And then there are times when it feels like you’re just going through the motions, like you aren’t really making any progress toward that greater goal and that no matter how much you achieve nothing will ever change? Is there really a difference between comfortable and meaningful lives? Yes, yes there is.
What makes life meaningful?
You might not find an answer that makes you happy, but you’ll be on your way to a more comfortable life. Answers to these questions can help you make changes and take control of your life: What do I want? What would make me happy? Do I want success, freedom or happiness? How much is enough for me? What do I need to be successful in my career and in my personal life (family, friends)? If you don’t like where you are now and what you have, change something. There is no magic bullet for how to live a more meaningful life. Maybe things will never change for you. Maybe it’s not even worth it for them to change if they have been working well enough so far.
Developing feelings of meaning in your life
Difficult as it is to turn your attention toward those moments when you do feel a sense of meaning, try to notice them. When did they occur? What were you doing at that time? Who was around you? Was there an experience associated with them or some thought that perhaps caused you to feel that way? At first, your answers may be imprecise and even sketchy, but over time as you become more attuned to what brings on these feelings of meaning in your life, they will become clearer and more accurate.
